Tu BiShvat

The best way to celebrate Tu BiShvat, the New Year of the Trees, is certainly by planting trees.

The Tu BiShvat Project is an annual initiative of the Centro Cultural da Judiaria, developed since 2024, which brings together tradition, environmental awareness, and social responsibility.

This project promotes the planting of trees and native Portuguese plants in neglected urban areas, contributing to the regeneration of public spaces, the appreciation of the territory, and the improvement of the quality of life of local communities.

More than a symbolic gesture, planting is understood here as a practical form of Tikkun Olam, repairing the world through concrete action. Each edition of the project seeks to strengthen the connection between heritage, nature, and active citizenship, showing that care for the environment is part of a broader ethical and cultural vision.

The activities are open to the community and encourage the participation of people from different backgrounds, ages, and paths. Beyond the planting itself, the project also promotes informal moments of gathering and dialogue, strengthening community bonds and creating a space for encounter around shared values.
